How To Install C++

Peace be upon you, fellow knowledge seekers. In the previous article, you've already learned about compilers, linkers, and IDEs. This time, we will discuss how to install Dev-C++. This IDE will be used throughout our discussion of the C programming language.

The Dev-C++ version used by the admin is the latest version uploaded at this time, which is Dev-C++ version 5.11. Before installing Dev-C++, there is an important thing we need to have. What is it? Of course, we need the master file. For the Dev-C++ master file, you can download it from the following link:

After visiting the link above, all you need to do is press the download button as shown in the following image:

Wait for a moment until the following window appears, then click the Save File button as shown in the following image:

Install Dev-C++

After the download process is complete, we can install Dev-C++. The first step is to double-click the Dev-Cpp 5.11 TDM-GCC 4.9.2 Setup.exe file, and then a language selection window will appear.

Here the admin chooses English, which is the default selection. Then click OK. A license agreement window appears.

Click I Agree to accept and proceed with the installation. The next page is the component selection page that will be installed along with Dev-C++.

On the "Choose Components" page, the admin chooses the full installation type, and the other options are left as they are (by default), then click Next> to proceed to the installation location selection.

On the "Choose Install Location" page, the admin selects the default location, but it's okay for those who want to change it. Then click Install and wait for the process to complete.

Click Finish on the following window, and the Dev-C++ application will automatically open.

Usually, when the application is first run (after installation), some initial settings will appear. The admin simply uses the default settings because they are more comfortable to use. Some of these settings are as follows:

First, the language setting. Here you can choose which language to use when running the application. The admin prefers English, as that is the only language understood. Then click Next, and the following window will appear.

On this page, you can change the font (type of letter display) for the listing you type in the Dev-C++ text editor. In addition, you can also change the color theme and icons according to the options provided. Then click Next, and a notification window will appear stating that the configuration has been successful, as follows.

Click OK, and then the Dev-C++ application window will appear as follows:
